    CES 2020

CES, Las Vegas, is the proving ground for innovation and breakthrough technologies. Everyone from Tesla to Mercedes have made some of their most important announcements at this show throughout the years. 2020 was an especially exciting year at CES for the automobile industry with Daimler presenting an Avatar-Inspired concept car and Bosch unveiling their Virtual Visor which won the CES 2020 Innovation Award.

CES showcases more than 4,400 exhibiting companies, including manufacturers, developers and suppliers of consumer technology hardware, content, technology delivery systems and more; a conference program with more than 250 conference sessions and more than 170,000 attendees from 160 countries.

2020 was Okai’s first year exhibiting and for most of the team, their first time in Las Vegas. With close to 200,000 tech enthusiasts flocking to the city of sin all at once, the already high energy and congestion of Las Vegas, is heightened to an entirely new level. Being in Las Vegas for CES is comparable to a kid in a candy store. Except that kid works there, owns the candy store, and is hosting a birthday party for Elon Musk and everyone he’s ever met.

Our build crew, Danielle and Carrie (pictured below), arrived two days before the show officially started to setup the booth, unpack and charge the scooters, and get everyone’s registration badges. After three days of complete insanity, non-stop talking, and some very important meetings it was time to pack up and for most of the team to head home. One lucky team member loaded the scooters into a rental van and drove them down to Los Angeles where they would be kept and shown to interested parties.

Overall CES was a great experience and we cannot wait to exhibit next year provided that the pandemic allows.
